Or perhaps why do you reload?

I started out reloading to tailor my load to the sport, USPSA.

Now I do it because I find it fascinating, all the different things that impact the ballistics.

I started reloading .38s after I started shooting SASS matches and it snowballed from there.
I especially like being able to load up 9mm LRNs to shoot steel on the club range.

I started reloading during the great ammo shortage. All the equipment and components paid themselves off within a year.

I used to hand load for SASS, super-light 38s. I have plans to start loading for everything but finances currently are inhibiting progress.

I don't get to shoot much anymore, but when I do, I like to shoot 6.5G and 10mm.  So, you know...

Started for cost reduction on 40S&W during high ammo prices, equipment paid off on first month of shooting with buddies (3 of us with 40SW).  Moved to rifles also and load for ammo quality and accuracy now.

Lets see if I can spark some life into this conversation.

I load for all the reasons mentioned in the poll.
It's way too expensive to buy factory ammo. I tell people that if I didn't reload then I couldn't afford to shoot.
12ga for Sporting Clays, 410 for Skeet
M2 ball to feed the M1
30 Carbine to feed the M1 Carbine
9 minor, 40 major, 45 major revo, 38 Short Colt minor revo division
223 for minor rifle
44 Mag, 50AE, 500SW for the big blasters
6.5 Creed, 6.5 Gap4s, 6.5 Swede, 7.5 Swiss...
It's so fun, I really like it. Also been cleaning the garage lately. I dug up the casting gear and swaging gear. to make some 12ga balls and 50cal balls for black powder. Made some 40cal HP projos out of 9mm brass...I like making ammo...

I hand load with a handheld Lee press. I started with 38 special and 45 ACP for the purpose of making powder puff loads for my WW1 and WW2 revolvers. Now I also load 45LC powder puffs for a black powder conversion cylinder, and some hot 45LC loads for my Ruger Redhawk.

Soon I will start loading ~750fps 45ACP 185gr for my 1969 Colt National Match, and also 455 Webley, 38SW, and maybe try some 30-30.

I do find it enjoyable, and it gets me ammo loads that I could not otherwise get very easy or inexpensively.
